Our Technology

The CAS concept is a versatile laser spectroscopy platform configurable for a range of applications, including but not limited water and CO2 isotope measurements, analysis of GC peaks, and trace gas analysis from biological samples.

CAS ANalyzer

The Analyzer

The Capillary Absorption Spectrometer (CAS) system utilizes proprietary hollow core fibers produced by Guiding Photonics. The hollow fiber has a reflective coating that guides a laser beam from source to detector. Within the hollow fiber the beam and analyte overlap enabling sensitive laser absorption spectroscopy with minimal sample size for trace-gas and isotope analysis.

CAS Assembly

Key Components

The hollow fiber cell can be coiled into a compact form factor. In addition, it has a relatively small internal sample volume (as low as 1 mL), which enables trace gas and isotope analysis with minimal sample requirements.

Features

CAS Advantages

Small Sample Sizes

Cabon isotope analysis with less than 1 picomole of carbon

Low-cost Analyses

Significantly lower upfront cost compared to isotope ratio mass spectrometry (IRMS) systems

Small footprint

System is the size of a large shoe box  (i.e., work boot size)

Rapid analysis

Real-time isotope ratio values updated at 1 second rates, values can also be averaged for higher precision

Low Maintenance

Does not require extensive calibration or high vacuum hardware, reducing labor costs associated with maintaining competing systems

Doesn’t require a PhD

Intuitive software for data collection, real-time measurements, and post-processing analysis

Guiding Sensors introduces a new class of analyzers leveraging the ultra small sample size of our proprietary hollow core fibers for high precision measurements in sample limited applications.
